I saw this Expat Tag floating around on a blog somewhere and loved the idea. Although I don’t consider myself a true expat yet, I really liked the questions and reading the bloggers answers. So I though I’d give it a go as well!
I’m not gonna lie. I am having a bad day. Work just flat out sucked, I’m broke, and I have this anxious feeling in my chest that I can’t explain but won’t go away. It’s not the first time this happened, but I do know what it means. It means I need to take some time to take care of myself. Clean my house (ugh, why do I sound so grown up?!), cook a nice dinner, watch a good movie and write a blog.
So that’s what I am doing. And since I feel kinda bad, I thought it would be nice to list all the reasons why my life is actually pretty great. You know, perspective.
Having been here for almost a year already, I actually haven’t seen nearly as much from this city as I would have liked. Nevertheless, there are some good spots I have discovered that I’d like to show with you!
… and I would walk 500 more, just to be the man who walked 5000 miles just to show up at your doo-oo-oor. I know… cliché song. But that’s just what my brother did. About three months ago he set out from Germany and walked, yes! walked, to Athens.
There are love songs written about the beauty of this place. The pride and joy of the Greek nation, the Aegean Sea, is a muse, a force of nature, a heartbeat. The moment I first saw her, in Kos last year, I fell in love. And even in this huge city, with it’s high rise buildings and smog, this sea is the bluest, prettiest and most wonderful thing I have ever seen.
